HOW TO DISPLAY AFLP INFORMATION...
- Display sample plates: Samples are available from your Motor Vehicle Department. In Virginia, they cost $10 per plate.
If you are unable to purchase actual sample plates, PaLC suggests that you make a color copy of the license plate, mount it on a bright backing (e.g. red gets noticed!) laminate it, and post them, with permission, at various "animal friendly" locations. Laminated color copies cost only about $3.00 each.
- Hand out flyers: PaLC is in the process of designing state specific flyers for your convenience. (In the Works)
- Promote them on the web: Put a picture of your state's plate on your website with a link to your DMV special plates web page, and ask other merchants to display it on their websites. PaLC is in the process of designing web ready images for your convenience. (In the Works)
- Be Prepared: Keep some applications in your glove box to hand out to people who compliment you on your unique plates.
WHERE TO DISPLAY AFLP INFORMATION
- Animal care & control, and humane organizations
Display the plates at cat and dog adoption events. Keep a permanent display up at animal shelters, breed rescue headquarters, humane societies, etc. Include information (plus a dmv application form) in your adoption packages.
- The pet supplies and services connection
Supply stores and shops: pet food stores, groomers, trainers, pet sitting services, doggy day care, veterinarians' clinics and hospitals, pet supply manufacturers, etc.
- The community connection
Be adventurous - ask restaurants, dry-cleaners , video stores, book stores, coffee shops, grocery stores, your favorite animal-friendly pub or pizza place, hair salons, banks, dog parks, public kiosks at your parks and recreation centers to display the plates that help to save lives in their neighbourhood!
- Special events
Display the plates at yard sales, farmers' markets, parades, county fairs…
- The automobile connection
Car dealerships, tire and battery shops, the local motor vehicles office, gasoline, stations, automobile insurance companies are all excellent places to promote/display the plates.
- The civic connection
Consider bulletin boards at the public library, the City /Town Hall, and houses of worship, or the public services offices of your town or city government.
